A look at the number of tech startups sprouting up across major African cities almost on a daily basis is arguably a strong indication that the continent is bracing up for the Fourth Technological Revolution. In order to properly harness the opportunities of the Fourth Technological Revolution, this post argues that there is a need to formulate a comprehensive strategy and learn from past mistakes. As African tech entrepreneurs, it’s incumbent on us to go beyond just founding startups to probe how our actions — despite the shortcomings of our governments and institutions — can contribute to a macro-level strategy necessary to nurture our micro-level entrepreneurial efforts towards sustainable development.
